COMPARISON TO A PROFESSIONAL PLAYER

In comparison to professional player and Australian representative, Karen Murphey, it is clear that certain aspects of my delivery movement and follow through need improving to ensure consistency and accuracy in my bowls. As you can see in the below images, Karen Murphy has a lower centre of gravity, making it easier for her to manipulate the line of the ball and get it closer to the kitty. In my shot I replicate this low centre of gravity by kneeling almost completely to the ground while stretching out my base foot and dominant foot as far as possible without becoming unstable. However, I could improve this by lowering my centre of gravity further.  By implementing these strategies my aim and consistency improved to a great extent, supporting the statement that my skill level is higher than that of a cognitive learner.

After implementing the changes mentioned above my skill level in lawn bowls increased. This is partly due to the decrease in errors as I now use an improved body position. My accuracy has also increased as my bowl got closer to the kitty each game I played and my line consistency improved and less bowls went out of bounds. Focussing on one aspect of my game and working to improve it was an effective way to improve my overall performance in lawn bowls.
